Community FAQ

What is National Poetry Writing Month?

Founded by the poet Maureen Thorson in 2003, NaPoWriMo is a prompt-a-day, poem-a-day challenge held every April.

Traditionally, poets commit to writing 30 poems in 30 days, with no expectation that the poems will be any good.

What is spn_napowrimo?

We believe anyone can write poems, and should! (Because thinking about poetic devices, figurative language, and forms will make all your writing more vibrant. Besides, you might find you like composing odes to Sam’s butt.)

We host a fanworks challenge every April in the spirit of the original.

This comm is open year-round, and we welcome all poets and artists to share with us.

Above all, we’re in this for fun!

Are there posting guidelines?

Just a few:
  1. Please only submit works involving/including CW’s </i>Supernatural</i> and its characters. We welcome all characters, ships, and ratings; self-inserts, crossovers, AU’s (a lá “The Bad Place”), pre-canon, post-canon, canon divergences. You can even slide some RPF in here, via the gang’s “French Mistake” counterparts.

  2. All posts to the community must contain a brief header including warnings for AO3’s Big Four, where applicable (underage, noncon, character death, and graphic violence)

  3. Also, please tag and hide any spoilery and/or NSFW content, either behind a cut or external link. (For our purposes, a spoiler constitutes any revelation about an episode until three days after its first U.S. broadcast.)

  4. And finally, if a fanwork provides your inspiration (as with a remix), please link to the original in your post.

(Note: some challenges may require additional header information.)
